Last night on facebook was atrocious, everyone’s joining groups like ‘Mush is our Jinnah’, Mush – Pakistan’s saviour’ and all types of hullabaloo. And then they’re calling the anti-Mushes lemmings. Who exactly are the lemmings here??
He was another ”Jinnah” alright, he was almost about to split Pakistan in half, Balochistan and NWFP split away from Pakistan (wait doesn’t that sound similar to Indian channel – Rayat TV’s agenda?) hmm.. pieces to a puzzle.
What saviour? That he helped in funding a movie, or lifted bans on certain musicians? Yes, I’ll admit that was a good move, but what about the negatives? They outdo the pluses.. I’d rather not see a couple of glitterati red carpet do’s in exchange for peace, happiness and liveliness restored in Pakistan!
Is Zardari ‘the crook’ the man to do it? Let’s see.. we dont have a crystal ball at-the-ready, but let’s see. No-one has yet give the man a chance. He’s even being suspected of having had his wife assasinated – yeah.. whatever!! I call it desperately clutching at straws! He’s done his time! He’s paid for his sins. Let’s get over it! I’m not a fan either, but he’s working cohesively as a team member. That’s better than all this one-man-upmanship and sly little backhander deals with USA than we’ve been seeing for a long time!
Zardari-Sharif might even follow suit, but with a force as big as theirs (and counting), I doubt they’ll feel the need to dwindle into foreign territory.
Mush has made a clever move by resigning and planning to jump ship, he may miss his impeachment, which is a shame as he has 20 different charges and America’s sneaky little alliance was a little more conveniently sneaky these last few days. When they thought he would be impeached, they backed away stating it’s ‘his own country’s internal affairs’ PAH! Now that they know he’s possibly going to get away with it, they’re suddenly cosying up to him again. That should serve as a lesson learned.
It’s not a personal thing, he was obviously a purchased service, he’s just past his sell by date.
PLEASE NOTE: Dont be seeing this with any shades of familiarity as Saddam Hussein’s end-of-reign and toppling of statue, there’s a world of a difference. Saddam opposed the US (for reasons good or bad, who knows) and the same people responsible for the felling of his statue regret it today, in Pakistan’s case it’s the exact opposite.
A massive sigh of relief:
Pakistan’s newly elected civilian coalition government has faced criticism from the United States that it was not doing enough to fight militants operating along the Afghan-Pakistan border. The civilian government is reluctant to fight what it sees as a proxy war for the US. Read more.

A couple of years back a good friend of mine quoted (originated) the following sentence, which I initially disagreed with, but am now a believer of the same:
“yeh Qoom kissi kee, kissi kee bhi nahi hoo saktee, joo qoom Bhutto kee phansii per nahi boli woh kabhi bhi nahi boley gee”
Although I am not a pro-PPP (or for that sake PPPP) follower, but the above sentence seems to be some thing destined to us as a nation. We can not be trusted.
I will not compare Mushi with Jinnah obviously coz there could be just one Jinnah, which happened to have passed away. although mushi was definitely a man of character, a true leader to say the least. The only problem was the fact that enlightened mind set and vision were not acceptable to many (as we already are an extremist majority nation). About the NWFP issue and the Balochistan issue, please have no doubt what so ever in your mind that the Pakistan had very little options after 9/11, and the fall out of it were at best handeled by Mushi himself. The King’s party and its PML n PPP lota politicians I call Mushi gr8est fault there was no need for them.

OTHER FACTS:
Pakistan inclusion in common wealth, N11, Chairmanship
to be contd……
very impressive shan, he may have spent it wisely in all the right places.. but let’s see where the money came from;
”Much of the fault for this situation lies with Musharraf’s aversion to democracy and his failure to capitalize on the opportunities offered by joining the Western alliance in the war against terrorism after Sept. 11. After the 2001 attacks, Musharraf received massive financial aid ($11.8 billion from Washington alone) and unstinting international political support — yet failed to use it for the common good. ”
”He rigged his own reelection in 2002 and long disrupted attempts at a transition to a democracy. After millions of Pakistanis took to the streets last year, demanding the rule of law, Musharraf imposed a state of emergency. Under extreme public pressure, he was forced to rescind his measures and agreed to hold free and fair elections in February, in which his political supporters were trounced.”

I believe that Jinnah thing is a bit too much for Musharraf but yeah one thing is for sure that even after all this i can’t see much changing..after all its the same old group back in the business all united & determined for their own sake rather than for the country’s sake..only time will tell super!
Yeah acha hova chala gaya..he should have gone long time ago but still its good that he’s gone & today as a result our KSE has closed on a high note but still i remember people doing bhangras out on street & distributing sweets when musharraf arrived..we haven’t learned anything from our past & i doubt that we will!
Allah karay aur cheezain badal jaen laikan ye tou waqt he batae ga k kya hoga aur koun kitna sacha hai..cheers: )
oh things have changed dear!
but yes only time will tell what’s to come!
(ooooye illusion, dont use my real name here.. i’m always having to edit yours and ammars comments!)
ahaan they’ve??
lol..won’t comment on that as let the time be the judge: )
mera kya hai mushy aa’ya chala gaya..ye bhi aaen gaay aur hum sab daikhain gaay k aa’gay aa’gay hota hai kya..we’ve seen them before & lets hope that this time its going to be something different from the past..in the end its all about Pakistan sooper..i am with anyone who’s committed & determined in bringing our country back on track..cheers sooper: )
Thank you supe….. i m sick with this pro musharf backwaas… Shan.. do you have a stats for all the suicidal killings….inflation ….and poverty…
trust me dude… if you need an army officer telling you what to do… tumhara allah hi hafiz..
@ IC & supersizeme
First Apologize for leaving the write up half way (I had to rush out) kher,
supersizeme , at ur comments I ll point out at my last half written post,,,, Plz have no doubt that after 9/11 Pakistan did have only one sane option to go with “Supporting the West (US) against Afghans”,,,Strategically speaking this was undoubtedly the most Kill kill situation
for us, coz they were us only who originated / nurtured / polished / organize the Talibans during the soviet war (which we fought as a proxy for the US), so the point is killing and destroying the Taliban was not a good option (but the only option) for Pakistan. He (Mushy or Paki, whatever u term it) did receive hefty payments from the West for the support, but the result u can see, I mean the above stats, if not all but atleast show some thing. Please Ikhtelaf ba maqsad-e-Ikhtilaf naa karey, Listen wid an open mind.
Now the Judges issue, Though was not the righteous thing to do,but the Govt and Intellegince services had issues wid the supreme court on the missing ppl list, lets leave it like this only. But just a reminder, Justice (R) Iftikhar M.Chaudry was the part of the bench which legalized Mushy Coup of 99.
Ok now, Inflation, @ IC, I do have stats but I think that it will be enough to say that I am a salaried individual with some extreme spending family members dependent on me
, N yes I can feel the inflationary pressure… but yaar I as an economist (begginer stage
) do know that the whole world is heading for recession, u can not avoid it, its the part of the economic cycle. But remember u and I start feeling this much after the Feb’08 election.
Sucide attacks,,,,,, yes thats the price we are paying for supporting the west against our own nurtured Talibans……..This should have been stopped.
Poverty stats was there in the above part
See the point here is not to advocate anyone nor to proof your point of view wrong we are simply two opposite side thinkers,,,, u put in your point (which I happen to call radical) n here is mine u have all the liberty in the world to call it what ever u wanna put it like.
But there is one thing for sure, Mushy was good, atleast better than the Mr. 10% (Inflationary pressure must have taken that to Mr. 20-30%) and Mr. Sharif (read non-sharif), we have already seen these ppl in power wat have we got, a troubling economy, terrorist state label n all. Just see around u KHI has changed in the last five years, new roads, Water supply, over head bridges, under way passes, n now this elevated highway,,,, I have not even thought of such progress in pre-Mushy period.
Pata nahi app kya soch rahein hoo gey!!!!! but i and thousands, if not millions, have lost the most prominent, working, and visionary leader on 18th, ALAS
Mushy ney sahi kaha thaa, Paki kaa abb Allah Hafiz
no one i know joined any face book groups, looks like my friends are least politically inclined.
ilusion – sooper biscuits are my fave!
yo IC.. high five!! FINALLY someone out there sees sense! AND is sick of the wars and bloodshed!
tazeen.. hey girl, can we swap facebook friends? mine are overly jazbaati, they’ve joined all sorts of grieving-for-mush groups and have similar themed status updates, heck some even have him on their dps.. it seems the ‘in’ thing to do.. what madness!?
i joined the ”please dont assasinate asif zardari because he’s hot, okay?” group – just for a laugh!
shan, cheers for the post, appreciate it, i’ll get back to you in detail. but for now i just wanna say, we’re all in this together, we all want the same thing. stop insulting the pakistani people, for goodness sake mush was in power for 9 years, he has had his time, let him go!!
we want peace and prosperity for pakistan just as much as you do. so what if our opinions are clashing, that we favour the wrong opponents. it’s not gunna change anything.
Shan, dude, you’re going way too much on just ‘aisey waisey’ stats. Great, income increase…What about the distribution? Total income increase, oh how about inflation? Karachi stock exchange has progressed, oh wee, do not get me started on this one, you never talked about volatility. FDI increased to $8 Billion? Economists from Pakistan have been yelling for ages about how its being invested into banks and other service oriented sectors which, in themselves, are not providing assets or job security because a little mistake from the Pakistani side, and they pull out their people and leave with minimum loss… unlike the foreigner who sets up a car factory and has to keep his investment in Pk. This is called a hot air bubble, and its exploding pretty soon.
@Stats, having a colleague who worked with the Govt of Pakistan, he was shocked when he arrived in Pk on an advisory capacity. They gave him six sets of data; the worst ones for the ‘aid’ people and the best ones for ‘prospective investors’… so, i can excuse myself from believing stats.
Although i totally agree with you on the count that this is a nation true to no one. Pakistanis love to criticize the government but once they are in power, everyone looks out for themselves. Only. Period.
However, what is indefensible is that Musharraf and Shaukat Aziz RUINED our economy. That is not to say they did NO good, they did build all those universities etc (standard? *snicker* haha) but then again, there has been no leader who’s done otherwise. Saray aik hee thailee kay chtay batay hain But stop placing so much belief in stats. No Pakistani would ever believe in stats as a proof of anything (b/c we know how they’re ‘made’) when the average man is dying for atta.
hey girl! specs, you’ve taken the words right out of my mouth.
the fact remains pakistan was and is in dire straits under mush’s rule. he ruled for 9 years and unleashed hell! he was a small cog in america’s insidious schemes – it’s wishful thinking but we NEED a massive/huge united democratic govt which can tell the usa where to shove it!
i have my hopes on this one.. i mean even if i dont, we’d be no better off, we’re stuck with this new govt.
funnily enough i used to HATE benazir nvm her crook of a husband, but more than that, I believe in giving people a second chance!
