I just found this interview whilst browsing Dawn and am quite pleasantly surprised at Meera’s opinions on the bedlam in Pakistan right now. I’ve always heard the odd few say she’s smarter than we think, I laughed it off as something ridiculous. (Remember the ”court is in my ball’s” story, as was relayed to us by Arooj?)

I say Meera should leave showbiz and get into politics, she’d seriously kick some butt! She certainly has the necessary criteria.

Like… a canadian passport? apparently she can get around now (wink), Her articulate speech (she mightsss isstruggle with pronounciation but her choice of words is clever indeed) and remember her moti moti masoom si aankhein whilst she was being ”interrogated” in Aag TV’s cell 224? Issi ko kehte hai adhakaari. Just think, a lil bit of that (and her silver screen siren  good looks) would do wonders for international relations.

On a serious note, she has made quite a valid point. Seem’s she needs to stop doing Bollywoodsss ka peecha and take up the job she was born to do, which is that of siyasi leader lady. Here’s what she said that’s got me convinced:

”Now is the time to rule with an iron hand. Dande se hi log theek hone wale hain.”  Yikes!

”We felt so insecure and unsafe. Nobody seems to think about the well-being of the country. Every opposition member, who has been lambasting the emergency, is actually concerned only with his own good.”

”Why even get into unmasking people when the need of the hour is unity?”

When asked: How long do you think this emergency should continue?

She replies: ”Forever… Or at least for another two or three years.”

 She gets my vote! What say you?
